General Practitioners (GPs) are primary care physicians who serve as your first point of contact, they play a vital role in your health care journey, while helping you navigate the health care system. General Practitioners diagnose and treat common illnesses, manage chronic conditions, provide preventative care for clients of all ages.

General Practitioners play a pivotal role in the community, as educators, facilitators in health promotion and illness/injury prevention.

- Foster learning environments that maximize patient autonomy and self management
- Work collaboratively with interdisciplinary team members in assessing trends that impact health in communities
- Improve access to health care services to meet your health goals
- Perform specified procedures (invasive/non-invasive)

GPs manage the delivery of quality health care to families and people of all ages in a variety of settings, including family practice settings, health centres, hospitals, and specialty clinics.
