Diabetes Program
Diabetes occurs when the body cannot produce insulin or cannot properly use the insulin it produces. Insulin’s role is to regulate the amount of sugar in the blood. Blood sugar must be carefully regulated to ensure that the body functions properly.
The Q’wemtsín Health Society Diabetes Team will support you in managing your healthcare and meeting your diabetes goals.
The Diabetes team consists of:
- Dietitian
- Registered Nurse
- Nurse Practitioner
- Doctor
- Foot Care Nurse
Diabetes symptoms:
- Feeling tired
- Increased thirst
- Frequent urination
- Blurred vision
- Weight change (loss or gain)
- Tingling or numbness in hands and/or feet
- Cuts or bruises that are slow to heal
