Circle of Life
The Circle of Life Program is provided to any first nations of Tk’emlups Indian Band, Skeetchestn Indian Band and Whispering Pines/Clinton Indian Band and permanently reside on their respective reservations who are expecting or who have children under the age of six.
Delivered by Community Health Nurses, The Circle of Life Program is broken into the following three streams:
- Through the Canadian Prenatal Nutrition (CPN) Program we are able to assist with support of nutritional needs of the family during pregnancy and in the postpartum period
- Through the Maternal Child Health (MCH) Program we are able to provide continued prenatal support and education, new baby visits/postnatal home visits and are able to provide longer – term support to families so as to promote the holistic health of the family
- Through the Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) Program we utilize a home visiting strategy which allows us to provide extra support to children who are diagnosed with FASD and their families to improve their quality of life
